The name of Philippe Morillon remains inseparable from a certain era and more particularly from what we now call the “Palace years”. Photographer and fashion illustrator, he published in 1981, in the company of Yves Adrien, Ultra Lux: “Of the classical order under plastic influence”. We find in this book all the most beautiful graphic works of Morillon but also and especially the atmosphere of these years 76-80: the Palace, Serge Kruger, Edwige Belmore, the Bains Douches, Fabrice Emaer, Pierre & Gilles, the magazines Egoiste, Façade, Djémila, le Privilège… a whole universe to which Morillon has made his contribution as an artist, witness and actor. Andy Warhol signs the preface and writes: “Whatever the bad taste of his pictures, he stages them with taste. It is the French taste: this faculty they have to wear a striped shirt with a polka dot tie. without it being ridiculous”.
