Very rare poster for the announcement of the opening of the Times Square Show in June 1980. Organized by a group of artists (Colab, Collaborative Projects Inc), the exhibition had the particularity of being open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Above all, she revealed many talents including Jean-Michel Basquiat then totally unknown. You could admire sculptures, paintings, fashion items, but also listen to experimental music or watch videos. It was a place of exchange between artists. Among the many artists present : Kiki Smith, Kenny Scharf, Charlie Ahearn, Alex Katz, Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Stefan Eins, Jane Dickson… The Times Square Show was certainly the major artistic event of the early 1980s and announces a new artistic wave which will take off in the following years.
