Very interesting issue of the famous New York underground newspaper at the time of the release of the Beatles’ last record: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (June 1967). There is an interview with George Harrison on the center pages. The newspaper deals critically (in the middle of “Summer of love”) the hippie movement more concerned with a lifestyle than a political project.

East Village Other was an American bi-monthly founded in 1965. It was the quintessential underground newspaper and had a considerable influence on the other counter-cultural newspapers that came into being. The EVO ceased to appear in 1972.
