Sex Pistols

Original flyers, 14 x 10.7 cm and 13.2 x 7 cm, framed under Plexiglas. London, 1977.

Out of stock

Beautiful set of two original flyers designed by Jamie Reid for the release of the album “Never mind the Bollocks” by Sex Pistols (Virgin Records). The first represents Queen Elizabeth II whose smile is pierced by a safety pin and the second takes up the famous slogan “No Future” chanted by Johnny Rotten at the end of God Save the Queen. These flyers also refer to the very personal celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee (June 7, 1977) organized by Richard Branson (boss of Virgin) with a concert by the group on the Thames aboard a specially reserved boat. Concert which ended in a big mess after the boat was invaded by the police who arrested several personalities including Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm MacLaren. God Save the Queen was a huge hit but was also one of the most censored tracks in British history. The BBC and several radio stations refused to broadcast the title despite its popular success.
