Very nice reissue of a very rare book to find. In 1967, Andy Warhol published two artist books: his famous Andy Warhol’s Index (Random House) and Screen Tests / A Diary. The only collaborative book between Malanga and Warhol, Screen Tests is the unique testimony to the effervescence of the Factory, the artist’s headquarter. Passage and party place where you could meet Mick Jagger, Lou Reed, Truman Capote, Nico, Allen Ginsberg, Edie Sedgwick, Salvador Dali, William Burroughs, Jim Morrisson…

The book is devoted to his films made on the guests of the Factory. Films shot with a 16mm camera. There is a gallery of characters like Lou Reed, Nico, Paul America, Dali, Donovan, Edie Sedgwick, Ronnie Cutrone… all accompanied by poems written by Malanga. It is an exceptional testimony to the work of Warhol and in particular his first uses of video.
