Rare invitation for the screening of Purple Rain by Prince at the Limelight in New York. If the invitation announces “the world premier video screening” of the film, it is a decoy since Purple Rain was released in July 1984 in cinemas. It is certainly the first screening in a nightclub and therefore the possibility of dancing while watching the images.
Anyway, this invitation is of major importance, it is linked to the album may be the most significant with Thriller of the 80s. The title track was even ranked 18th by Rolling Stones magazine in its ranking of 500 most important songs of all time.
