Perhaps one of the most striking images in Hip Hop history than the cover of Public Enemy’s It Takes a Nation of Millions to hold us back. And for good reason, this album traumatized (in the good sense of the term) a whole generation of listeners by the quality of the titles (“Don’t Believe the Hype”, “Bring the Noise”, “Rebel without Pause”) and by the radicality of the texts. Public Enemy brings Hip Hop into a new era, more vindictive, committed and uncompromising. It Takes a Nation will influence many groups and remains to this day one or “the” masterpiece of Hip Hop history.
