Very rare first edition (before the brilliant reissue by Idea Books London) of the book dedicated to the pioneer and king of “grills” : Eddie Plein. It is a documentary, a biography of the man who invented a style and more than that a revolutionary aesthetic from the back of his boutique in Queens, New York. Then later when he moved to Atlanta in the 90s. Eddie Plein attracted (by word of mouth and rumors) the biggest names in American hip hop: Just-Ice, LL Cool J, Kool G Rap, Flavor Flav from Public Enemy, Run DMC, Biz Markie, Goodie Mob, Outkast, RZA from Wu Tang… It is also through his life the history of New York at a bustling time when hip hop culture was surging and imposing its style. A reference work that celebrates the creativity of this culture.
