“Almost thirty years after his death, Jacques Mesrine, nicknamed public enemy No. 1, continues to intrigue. In 1978 and 1979, when “the man with a thousand faces” had all the police in France on their heels, Gilles Millet, at the time a journalist for Liberation, saw him regularly. For the first time, he recounts their encounters here. Also at this time, Gilles Millet presented to “the most wanted man” in France, still on the run, the photographer Alain Bizos for whom Mesrine poses. It is this series of photographs, several of which are unpublished, that this book delivers today as a whole. Two-voice portrait of a very special “bandit”.
