With Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious on the cover, arrested by a London police officer: “This is called living in England in 1977 said Johnny Rotten when he and his Sex Pistols mate Sid Vicious were stopped and searched by the police in London’s Notting Hill”. This issue of Melody Maker includes an interview with Johnny Rotten. The Sex Pistols had just released their thundering single God Save the Queen (May 27, 1977), censored almost everywhere and yet very quickly topping the charts as the very official jubilee of the Queen loomed on the horizon…
