Very rare book on « Îlot Chalon », a popular district today disappeared in Paris (12th arrondissement). A small district delimited by a few streets and adjacent to the Gare de Lyon, it was for a long time an atypical small village where the various communities came to immigrate to Paris. In the 1980s, this district was unfortunately blacklisted and accused by the media and the public authorities for being the refuge of drug traffickers and squatters. In a decade, the district is rehabilitated and its inhabitants driven out. This superb book makes us relive the atmosphere of this district during the last years of its existence, with a lot of humanism. Rare testimony of an unknown and forgotten Parisian district.
