Popular music and derived from traditional reggae, Dancehall originates in ballrooms or enclosed spaces (hence its name). If this genre has existed since the 1940s, it developed especially at the end of the 1970s in Jamaica. And this genre will even be the ancestor of hip-hop (Dj Kool Herc was inspired by sound systems to liven up his evenings in the Bronx).
This book is that of a visual and graphic history of dancehall through the signs announcing the parties. There is a typical graphic universe, close to graffiti. A very valuable book of iconographic documentation.
