Eric Tabuchi questions the validity of his photographic approach in the face of the considerable power of Google which, via its enterprise of digitizing the global territory, finally realizes the project of a truly objective and totalizing photograph. The artist endeavored to explore places which are familiar to him but this time in this parallel world, which constitutes Street View. FAT is America projected into the French imagination, digitized by Google and finally compiled by Eric Tabuchi as a sort of dizzying compendium of what globalization could be like in the era of the web. Two geographies overlap which, from New York to El Paso, from Villeurbanne to Draguignan, testify to the gap that remains between “elsewhere” and “here”.
