Very nice drawing made by a punk rock legend.. Dee Dee Ramones (1951-2002), was the bassist and author and composer of almost half of the band’s songs (like “53rd & 3rd”, “Poison Heart”, “Commando”, “Rockaway Beach”, “Wart Hog”…) . The drawing represents the famous Chelsea Hotel in New York which was a place of stay for many artists: Dee Dee Ramone himself, Jack Kerouac, William S. Burroughs, Bob Dylan, Sid Vicious, Robert Crumb, Patti Smith & Robert Mapplethorpe , Edie Sedgwick, Tennessee Williams, Jean-Paul Sartre, Willem de Kooning, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Nico, Stanley Kubrick, Christo… One of the hotspots of New York’s creative genius, the crossroads of all the most unfortunate encounters and adventures (such as the assassination of Nancy Spungen).

A year before his death, Dee Dee Ramone published a short story entitled “Chelsea Horror Hotel” whose The drawing of Dee Dee will be taken by the artist Paul Kostabi and enhanced with colors for the cover of the book. The book follows Dee Dee as he dictates daily events at the Hotel Chelsea in New York City with his wife Barbra and dog Banfield. Dee Dee is convinced that the room he stays in is the same where his old friend Sid Vicious killed his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen. Dee Dee is further visited by other dead punks, including Johnny Thunders and Stiv Bators. Throughout the book, Dee Dee tries to buy drugs, and eventually gets mixed up with other addicts.
