Since 1983/1985, the United States had been facing a real wave of consumption of crack, a drug derived from cocaine, very cheap and above all very addictive. The devastation in disadvantaged neighborhoods is so important and visible that the Reagan government is mobilizing considerable resources to fight against trafficking and consumption. It is in this context that the Crack Down concert was organized.
