Centre Autonome Occupé (1983)

Original poster, Paris, (1983), 64 x 45 cm. Condition: Very good (slight wear on the back, traces of folds).

Out of stock

Very rare poster of the Center Autonome Occupé (CAO), founded in 1983 by far-left students in a squatted building in the twentieth arrondissement of Paris. The center coordinated political (anti-fascist) and cultural actions, notably with the organization of alternative rock concerts. It is in this Parisian autonomist movement that groups such as Berurier Noir, or the future members of Negresses Vertes and Mano Negra, will emerge. The poster takes up and diverts a famous photograph by Diane Arbus (Child with a toy hand grenade in Central Park) with the slogan “a wild space for our rebellious cultures”. Rare testimony.
