In 1964, Bruce Davidson received a mission from Esquire magazine: to photograph the streets of Los Angeles. Davidson walks several days in the Californian city and takes real life situations. On his return, his work baffles the editor-in-chief of Esquire. Ultimately his report will never be published. This book comes out of its archives. Bruce Davidson will admit to having been lost in Los Angeles. The photographer, used to the East Coast and adopted New Yorker, was discovering a state of mind. Too much Sun, a cultural void, a gigantic circulation area… but a universe apart which reveals a certain interest. Wonderful book.
