Superb series of three catalogs from the exhibition dedicated to the birth of the hip-hop movement in the Bronx. The exhibition took place at the Vinyl Factory Gallery in Soho (London) between July 14 and August 24, 2005. It was a fantastic project built around Joe Conzo’s photographic archives and Buddy Esquire flyers, retracing the history of the hip hop movement and the youth of the Bronx in the 1970s. The catalogs are divided into three parts. The first is devoted to the presentation of the project with interviews with Tony Tone, Charlie Chase, Joe Conzo, Buddy Esquire and Marc Ecko (designer and founder of the Ecko Unlimited brand, which sponsored the exhibition). The second part takes full pages of the most beautiful photographs of Joe Conzo including the Block Party of the Bronx. The third part is devoted exclusively to a magnificent series of reproductions of the flyers of the legendary Buddy Esquire.

This exhibition precedes the publication of the book by Rizzoli in 2007 and edited by Johan Kugelberg.
