Wonderful book about the popular bars of Rio de Janeiro, populated by “Cariocas” ie natives of the most famous Brazilian city. There are 70 photographs in black and white and one color. The atmosphere is relaxed, calm. We see everyday life there, both from the bar and from regulars who quietly drink their beers while chatting. A fairly peaceful and joyful image of Brazil’s working-class neighborhoods. This book appears in the history of photography edited by Parr and Badger (Vol. III, p.224-225). A rare book.
