Area was a themed nightclub founded in 1983 by the Goode brothers. It was located on Hudson Street in Manhattan. The Club was known for its very original invitations and especially its decorations which changed every six weeks (on themes like “Disco”, “Suburbia”, “Art…). Area was one of the most trendy nightclubs with the Danceteria and the Limelight. It was frequented by many celebrities (Andy Warhol, Tom Cruise, Bjorn Borg, Issey Miyake, William Burroughs, Marianne Faithful, Grace Jones…). The club closed its doors in 1987 but left a deep mark on the history of New York nights.
