Very limited edition of this magnificent photographic report by Jesse Lizotte on the Californian Lowriders. Originally inspired by Chicano, lowriding has become very popular in all the popular neighborhoods of Los Angeles. It was popularized (in a way) by the Hip-Hop West-Coast who had appropriated the custom car as a symbol of success and freedom (and we think for example of the clips of Dr Dre , including “Let me ride” and “Nuthin ‘but a G thang”). There are 28 black and white photographs in Lizotte’s book, the vast majority of which are full double-page. The photographer was able to capture perfectly the prevailing atmosphere around this urban culture.
